Our June Fun Show Camp kept everyone busy having fun at the barn. Among our activities was a jump-painting project...the
photo above shows the group taking time out from hand painting our project. Along with riding and learning some show ring
strategies, the group learned to properly pull and braid manes for showing. Nichole did a great job demonstrating, and the
campers each had the opportunity to try out their skills on our patient demo horses, James and Ziggy.
Gwen Edsall of Hawk's Haven Horses near Middleburg, VA, came by to do therapeutic body work on several horses at the
barn. She explained the rebalancing process and how her cold laser helps to make the horses more comfortable.
The campers did a great job helping to prepare for our June Games-On-Horseback Fun Show that was held on Saturday
afternoon. We organized the different divisions, chose classes, set up the ring and planned the order of events. And we set
up our freshly-painted jump for all to see as they drove in the driveway on Saturday afternoon.
Thank you to Kelly for taking great pictures. Click on the thumbnails below to view full-size images.

Nichole demonstrates mane-pulling techniques using James as her test subject. Campers had a chance to try pulling and braiding during this demo.

Campers had the opportunity to ride as if in the show ring, learning how
to pass, change direction, and line up among other things. Two of our
campers will be competing in their first off-site show in the coming week,
and now they feel better prepared for the event.
Our jump-painting project featured scraping and repainting an old panel jump. After going over the jump with a wire brush, we covered it with a white base coat, lettered it and then decorated both sides. We set it outside the ring for all to see when they roll in the driveway. Lauren and James were our test jumpers once the project was completed. After giving a snort, James hopped right over.
