Hunt Cap Hunter Trials
South Branch Farms, York, PA
September 30, 2006
The HVS gang had a banner day at the Hunt Cap Hunter Trials,
competing successfully in both Field Hunter and Equitation
Divisions. Lauren was the day's big winner, coming home with the
coveted Master's Class Challenge Trophy, the Foxcubs Field Hunter
Championship and the A Bit More Tack Equitation Reserve
Championship.
Billy and Calvin won Reserve Champion Junior Field Hunter,
winning blue for their first trip around the jumps. Aboard Smokey,
whom she shared with Eric-the-Brave, Addie competed in her first
horse show and won some good ribbons in both Short-Stirrup and
Walk-Trot divisions. Cat Pony and Sami had another great show
together, pinning well in the Foxhounds Field Hunter and Junior
Field Hunter divisions, as well as the 2'6" pairs with Valerie and
Sully. Lexi and Nosey did a great job in Foxcubs and Junior Field
Hunter Divisions, as well as Short-Stirrup, 2'6" pairs with Lauren
and James and the Hunt Teams with Betsy and Ghost and Billy and
Calvin.
Eric-the-Brave and Smokey had a blast in the Hopeful Field Hunter
and Tally-Ho Field Hunter Divisions, and then enjoyed riding the 2'
Pairs course with Billy and Calvin--a great HVS Guy Team!
Kelly and Ricky did a bang-up job in A Bit More Tack and in the Fox
Hounds Field Hunter Divisions, qualifying for the Master's Class.
Nichole and Ziggy also did very well in A Bit More Tack Equitation,
Junior Field Hunter, Hunt Pairs and Hunt Teams.
Betsy and Katie enjoyed competing in their first Hunt Cap show
since moving back east, and both had a great time competing in the
Field Hunter Divisions. Betsy and Cindy on Ghost and Buck won
third place in 2' pairs.
Many of the gang qualified for the Master's Class this year: Lauren
and James won first place, and Kelly and Ricky placed fourth. Other
HVS qualifiers were Lexi and Nosey, Billy and Calvin, Betsy and
Ghost and Cindy and Buck. As always, we had a wonderful day at
South Branch. Congrats to all of our riders, and thank you to the
Hunt Cap folks for hosting such a delightful event.
And a special thank you to Kelly, Eric and Pete for taking all the
terrific photos you see on this page!
Lauren and James won the coveted Challenge Trophy in the Master's
Class. All who won first or second place over fences on the outside
course qualified to compete in this simulated fox hunt, led by a
Master. The class was judged on manners and suitability and on
which horse the judge would most like to ride in the hunt field. Other
HVS Master's Class qualifiers were Kelly and Ricky, who pinned
fourth, Billy and Calvin, Lexi and Nosey, Betsy and Ghost and Cindy
and Buccaneer.
