We have scheduled our annual Last Hurrah Combined Test for lesson students for Saturday, December 21st at 2 p.m. Stacey Porter will be judging the dressage, which will be held in the indoor, with show jumping taking place in the outdoor arena. Riders may warm up their horses on the lawn behind the barn adjacent to the picnic area. Before the show jumping, we will allow a brief warmup in the ring over the fence of the rider's choice.
We are offering levels from Tadpole (for non-jumpers) through Intro level. Please download the entry form to determine which dressage test you'll need to learn for your division. Entries close Saturday, December 14th. If you are new to eventing and combined tests, please visit this website for some helpful information. Additionally, we will be holding a Last Hurrah Riding Academy session on Saturday, November 30th, where we will focus on learning the ins and outs of competing in a Combined Test. Participants will receive a $10 discount on their Combined Test entry fee. Looking forward to an afternoon of fun stuff at the barn!

Please plan to arrive in plenty of time to walk your jump course (do this as soon as you arrive), groom and tack up your horse, warm up on the lawn on the hill above the indoor, and go to the indoor when it's time to do your test.
Once you enter the indoor, you may trot around each direction, and Stacey will give you a signal when it's time to start your test. If you would like someone to read your test for you, you may do that, or you're welcome to do it from memory.
After you finish your dressage, go straight out to the outdoor arena. (You may do a quick tack change if you need to), and you may pick one fence to be your warm-up fence in the outdoor. I will be out at the ring and will give you the signal to start your course once you're warmed up.
Once you've completed your jump course, you should return your horse to the barn, and either hand it off to the next rider or groom, blanket and turn it back out in the pasture.
We'll award ribbons at the end of the competition, once we've tabulated the dressage and show jumping scores.
The snack table will be inside the barn near the tool room, vs. outside in the cold!
Be sure to bundle up! It'll be a brisk day, and show clothes are not a requirement. The priority is to stay as warm as possible, so no style points for attire!
Let me know if you have any other questions, and we'll look forward to seeing everybody tomorrow morning!
